Editorial Standards

How recipes are developed, tested, and corrected on LittlePlateDiary.

Recipe development

Every recipe begins with a simple question: what would someone actually want to cook this week? We research classic versions, decide what to simplify, and write a first draft with exact measurements.

Testing

Recipes are cooked at least twice in a standard home kitchen with ordinary pans and a conventional oven. We note timing ranges and visual cues, such as golden edges or a gentle simmer, because stoves vary.

Ingredient selection

  • We choose ingredients that are easy to find at a typical US grocery store.
  • We name substitutions only after testing them.
  • We call out common allergens in ingredient lists where relevant.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, email hello@littleplatediary.site. We review every report, fix confirmed errors, and note significant changes at the top of the recipe.

Independence

Recipes are written for readers first. If a post is ever sponsored or contains affiliate links, it will be clearly labeled.
